The Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO) was established in 2002 and restructured as a non-profit organization in April 2005. During the founding of JSMO in 2002, members numbered less than 700. Thereafter, JSMO rapidly grew under the first president, Dr. Nagahiro Saijo, and the 2nd president, Dr. Kazuo Tamura, and we now have over 9,000 members. JSMO members comprise mainly medical oncologists, but also include surgeons, radiation oncologists and professionals in other fields of oncology, pharmacy, nursing, pharmaceutical workers and so on. |
